What is product design?Product design is a verb that represents the process of creating a new product sold by a company or business to meet its customer needs. This is a very broad concept, demonstrating efficiency and developing ideas through a process that leads to new products. It is also called Industrial Design.
When understood as a noun, Product Design is a collective of product characteristics. Features include formality (ie aesthetics of the product), the functionality of the design for the product along with comprehensive attributes, usability of the product. Industrial design increasingly enhances the market reach of the product according to the user’s aesthetic preferences taste or new advanced manufacturing technology.
In short, product design is a research field that creates product form based on functionality, user and production technology of the product. It can be said that industrial design determines the “appearance” of all products around us. For example, you use a television, computer, … the shape and color of the outside of it is the product design.
Product design including which fields?The product includes all the items we use. Therefore, to be easy to understand, these products should be segmented depending on the fields in which they are used. With different fields, they have different designs.
Below are some fields:
- Means of transports: It is the design of vehicles such as motorcycles, bicycles, cars, buses, subways… Depending on the size of the car that, the designer will make simple or complicated designs, detail or preliminary…
- Household products, consumer goods: This is the field with the most products. Most of these products are familiar things in our daily life. These can be: jeans, t-shirts, mugs, pillows, bathroom accessories, beauty equipment, home and office furniture, kitchen utensils … Our product design tools are developed to help users design their own products
- Medical equipment products: Are machines related to the examination and treatment of people, and the machine to support and promote health.
